Me versus God from LUCIFER & THE INDIGO KIDS by @Lord_Ra_Krishna #NonFiction #AmReading

Me vs. God…

Dread Locs on my head
Like snakes on Medusa

Get to close
and you turn into stone

If I were a girl
Then I would be Medusa

Tell Jay-Z and Kanye
Get the f#ck out of my throne

It's the clash of the Titans
It's me vs. God

They're just mad
Because I stole back the fire
Like Prometheus

You see,
Prometheus stole the fire
From the Gods and gave it to mankind…

That's a metaphor for knowledge
Now I'm giving it to you…

It's the same as the apple
In the Garden of Eden

Just take one bite
And you will know that you are God…

Also known as post Nietzschean poetry.

It’s subjects include society, pop culture, love, religious dogma, God and the new age of Aquarius. This book was written and published during the false incarceration of its author in Chicago’s notorious Cook County Jail, the largest jail in the country."

8 Things You Didn’t Know About The Evolutionary Journey of Woman
  • This book tells the story of the beautiful, adventurous Sumerian goddess Inanna.
  • It debunks Man the Hunter as the primary, prehistoric hero of human evolution.
  • The Evolutionary Journey of Woman suggests that a number of key social, cultural and technological factors formed a key tipping point in the Mythic Age that led to thousand of years of women's oppression.
  • This books sees the emergence of feminism as evidence of the positive unfolding of consciousness in the world.
  • It expresses the hope that we are emerging into a new Integral age that might be able to reintegrate our lost female and feminine wisdom.
  • It also debunks the idea of a past matriarchal golden age of human history.
  • It explains the three waves of feminism as moving from a focus on social rights, to cultural rights, and finally to diversity.
  • It argues that women need a tradition of spiritual grandmother's to help them fully become who they can be in the world.

The story of human evolution that we've been commonly told is one built on the shoulders of male heroism, competition and dominance; but, what if it isn't the whole story? This book tells the lost story of women in evolution.

The Evolutionary Journey of Woman: From the Goddess to Integral Feminism looks towards a future that brings together and reintegrates women's wisdom traditions through establishing a spiritual lineage for women that is traced all the way back to ancient Sumer with the goddess Inanna.

Marrying the ancient wisdom traditions with adult developmental theory, this book charts a pathway towards the full spectrum of possibilities for women's self-actualisation in the coming Integral age. The Evolutionary Journey of Woman is academically rigorous, historical, philosophical and spiritual, but, most fundamentally, it is a narrative that will change the way you think about woman as a heroine of history.

The Dunes
By Erin Sands: Journal Questions

1.What opportunity are you missing out on, or what area in your life are you not getting the most out of, because you have not made the commitment that you need to make? Why haven’t you made the commitment?

2. In regard to your answer to question number one:
List five things you believe you are missing out on because you have not made the commitment.

3. Now list five positive things that could happen if you were to follow through and fully commit

4. For the next five to ten minutes sit and visualize the five positive things from your list. See yourself making the commitment and see each of the five positive outcomes unfolding in your life one by one. Allow yourself to feel the excitement and the relief of attaining these goals. After you complete this visualization exercise write this statement in your journal: Anything is possible when I commit.

5.When in your life did you make a firm commitment and see it all the way through? How did it make you feel? Who was blessed by it and how did your life benefit as a result?

6. Recall a time in your past when you let fear keep you from the blessing of truly committing to something and reaping the benefits of it. If you could go back in time, what advice and encouragement would you give yourself in that circumstance? What would you tell yourself to alleviate your fears?

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised in the Bay Area of Northern California, Erin grew up with an innate love for dance, theatre and the written word. A graduate of Loyola Marymount University, Erin began her career in the arts as an actress and choreographer. After booking several notable roles in television and film, Erin began to use her gift of writing in blogs featuring political and social commentary, as well as developing content for theatrical use.

Although The Dunes, is a divine departure from Erin’s previous writings it is by far her most cherished work to date. “I wrote The Dunes initially as self therapy because I needed to release some painful experiences and disappointments from my past. I had this thirst to walk in the complete fullness of life with joy as my constant companion. I had no idea what effect it would have on other people. But when I saw people read it and be released from fears that had held them back for years…when I saw people forgive and be able to walk in the freedom forgiveness brings…when I saw people commit and serve and how those things opened up new opportunities in their life, I was just humbled. Humbled by the awesome power of God and humbled that I had been allowed to go along for the ride”.

When asked why she writes, Erin pauses and reflects on the truth of her heart. “I write because although I am only now beginning to truly love the process, I have always loved the outcome. Like a composer, words become my notes. I string them together in song eliciting the response of my reader, grafting a picture of my soul. Where besides the written word can you effect change so utterly and so succinctly? What besides the written word can pierce the universal collective mind? Everything begins with a thought, but it isn’t until that thought is articulated in written word and those words passed down can life changing movement happen. It must be written, it must be expressed on tablet, and when it is, we all become greater, whether the writing be genius or fatuity, it has evoked thought and debate. Why wouldn’t I want to be apart of that phenomenon? Why wouldn’t I want to share my story, give my testimony…add my paradigm to the mix? Whether it is a novel, a poem, an essay or an article, it is humanity visited. An insight into a new or sometimes shared truth. In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God. And with that I live my life”.

Dune

If there was a journey that could masterfully change your life in seven revelations...would you take it?

In life, sometimes the kernels of wisdom and the richness of revelation can be found in the most innocent of stories; and so it is with The Dunes. Join one man and one woman in an exquisitely simple yet remarkably profound journey as you discover with them that the mountain you must climb in order to live the abundant life of your dreams is located squarely within your heart.

In the family of faith-based self help books, The Dunes stands alone, simultaneously taking the reader from fiction to life and back again, equipped with a tailor made journal for the readers inner most secrets and reflections. The Dunes is part allegory, part testimony and part journal, but the best part is the healing it offers your heart. @KentBurden Shares an #Excerpt from Is Your Chair Killing You? #Wellness #AmWriting #MustRead

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Over the years the one thing I have found to be true in life is that things are never as simple as we would like them to be. Just a few years ago if someone asked you if lived an active lifestyle, you knew that if you worked out for 30 to 60 minutes a day 4 to 6 days a week you could answer “yes.” If not, you said “I’m working on it.” For decades scientists have studied the relationship between how much we exercised and our exercise levels and health. But in the past five years, some scientists began looking at this correlation from a different perspective: Instead of thinking about what exercise does for the body, researches started to investigate what sitting for long periods of time does to the body. This was some seriously unconventional thinking.
Rather than looking at what we weren’t doing they started to look at what we were doing, which was a heck of a lot of sitting. In fact, by some estimates many people are sitting as much as 12 hours a day. This new perspective has begun to turn the science of sedentary studies on its head. Researchers from such diverse fields as epidemiology, molecular biology, biomechanics and physiology are seeing more data that is leading them to believe that the amount of sitting we do on a daily basis may not only be making us very sick, it could be causing us to die prematurely. The most disturbing revelation is that 30-60 minutes of sustained exercise may have little or no positive affect on a sedentary lifestyle. To put it simply, sitting for extended periods of time may be slowly killing you, and just working out after sitting around all day may not be enough to save you.
The fact that sitting around is bad for you isn’t very surprising; you would have to be living under a rock not to have heard that doing nothing for long periods of time could make you fat and unhealthy. But most of us thought that if we hopped on a treadmill or took a spin class or shook our groove thing in a Zumba class a few times a week, we’d be cool. But according to microbiologist Marc Hamilton from the University of Missouri we need to adjust our thought process. “People need to understand that the qualitative mechanisms of sitting are completely different from walking or exercising…Sitting too much is not the same as exercising too little. They do completely different things to the body.”
This subject has been thrust into the national spotlight with a new Australian study that looked at death rates over a three-year period. The study concluded that people who spent a lot of time sitting at a desk or in front of a television were more likely to die sooner than those who were only sedentary a few hours a day. Of more than 200,000 adults age 45 and older, the lead author of the study Hidde van der Ploeg and his colleagues at the University of Sydney found that people who reported sitting for at least 11 hours daily were 40 percent more likely to die during the study than those who sat less than 4 hours daily.
The results appear in the Archives of Internal Medicine, March 26, 2012, and reveal that the link between too much time sitting and shortened lives stuck even when they accounted for how much moderate or vigorous exercise people got, as well as their weight and other measures of health.
Another study released in July of 2012 showed that an analysis of five large studies that followed about 2 million people in several different countries lead by Peter Katzmarzyk of Louisiana State Universities Pennington Biomedical research Center found that the life expectancies of people who said they spent more than three hours a day sitting were a full two years less than people who spent less than three hours sitting daily. Maybe even more surprising was that this was true regardless of whether subjects reported getting the recommended amounts of exercise or not.
In a 2005 article in Science magazine, Dr. James A. Levine, an obesity specialist at the Mayo Clinic, gave his insights into why, despite similar diets, some people are fat and others aren’t. “We found that people with obesity have a natural predisposition to be attracted to the chair, and that’s true even after obese people lose weight,” he says. “What fascinates me is that humans evolved over 1.5 million years entirely on the ability to walk and move. And literally 150 years ago, 90% of human endeavor was still agricultural. In a tiny speck of time we’ve become “chair-sentenced,” Levine says. This “chair sentence” as Levine puts it may very well be a death sentence.
So what’s the big difference between sitting and standing, you ask? I mean just standing around seems every bit as lazy as sitting, doesn’t it? Hamilton knows better. “If you’re standing around and puttering, you recruit specialized muscles designed for postural support that never tire,” he says. “They’re unique in that the nervous system recruits them for low-intensity activity and they’re very rich in enzymes.” One enzyme, lipoprotein lipase, sucks fat and cholesterol from the blood stream, and burns the fat for energy while shifting the cholesterol from LDL (the bad kind of cholesterol) to HDL (the healthy kind of cholesterol). When you’re sitting, the muscles are relaxed, and enzyme activity drops by 90% to 95%, leaving fat to hang out in the bloodstream. After a couple hours of sitting, healthy cholesterol drops by 20%. Amazingly this is just one of the myriad of chemical changes that take place in the body while we sit. Sitting for extended periods of time has a huge cascade of effects on the body, everything from back pain and restricted blood flow to being implicated in an elevated risk of certain kinds of cancer.  Let’s take a look at what this new research really has to say.

Sitting for extended periods of time is as bad for your health as smoking cigarettes. And exercising for 30-60 minutes a day isn’t enough to undo the damage from extended periods of sitting. Is Your Chair Killing You reveals shocking new research showing that sitting for long periods greatly increases your risk of developing obesity, heart disease, diabetes, stroke and cancer. Our bodies were designed to move constantly over the course of the day, but most of us sit for hours a day at work and at home! Fitness and wellness expert and award-winning author Kent Burden has created brief, simple movements you can incorporate into your daily life to combat the damaging effects of sitting. These simple movements, done standing for 1-5 minutes each hour will burn calories, energize and refresh you, and you won’t even break a sweat; you’ll even improve your back pain. This book is a how-to for weight loss and disease prevention. Read this book–you’ll be healthier in as little as 8 minutes a day.

Digging: Lifting the Memorable from Within the Unthinkable by Susan M. Rostan #Memoir #AmReading

Saturday, May 31, 2014

The phone rang and as I lifted the receiver I checked the phone’s digital display identifying the caller as Marian. “Hi,” I said, in a cheerful welcome, hoping to beat Marian to an introduction. “Sue? It’s Marian,” he responded, seemingly playing out the script he had prepared as he dialed the phone.

“How are you? How is everyone?” I replied, hoping to hear only good news.

“We’re all fine. Listen, Sue, we would like to stop by this weekend, if it’s OK with you and Bobby.”
“I know we’re free on Sunday, how about brunch?” I suggested.

“Sunday is good for us. I’ll be coming with the boys, if that’s OK with you.” “The boys” were Marian’s sons Marc and Ira. Marian’s wife Carol had difficulty sitting in the car for long trips, making her visits infrequent.

“Great,” I answered, trying to ease the discomfort I heard in Marian’s short, fact-filled sentences. He was always afraid of imposing but of course we would welcome his sons. The fact that he was living four hours north of my home on Long Island made “downstate” visits rare. I planned the menu before the receiver hit its cradle. We would have the usual: bagels, lox, and cream cheese. I made a mental note to remember bialys, fresh fruit, and a sugarless pie for Marian’s restricted diet.

Thus one sun-drenched afternoon — years after the Cold Spring Harbor sail with Eliane and just months after Ella’s digging focused my genealogical research — Bobby and I sat on our patio having brunch with Marian. In anticipation of the visit I envisioned segueing our conversation yet again into the past, if only for the names of relatives long gone. Little did I know how far Marian had come in his willingness to talk, at last.

Turning to Marian and his forty-something sons — Marc and Ira (named for Marian’s twin Menache and father Israel) — I remember enthusiastically describing how I was trying to create a family tree. The sons would find exploring their ancestry an interesting enterprise, I believed.

As I read my list of the approximate names of Marian’s family, noting where I had blanks alongside relationships, Marian seemed more distracted than usual. I noticed Marc and Ira giving each other secret signs and Bobby closing his eyes, probably fearing I had initiated a painful family exchange. Hoping to engage Marian and assure the others that I needed only names, not painful stories, I mentioned my discovery that my mother-in-law’s name was actually Estera Rachel, and not Elzbieta, or Elsa, as Marian called her. Marian, whose eyes lifted to meet mine, smiled. “That’s correct,” he acknowledged in his soft deep voice. “Elzbieta was not a Jewish name. Elsa took that name; she didn’t use her given name.”

Marian, sitting at the head of the table and dressed, as usual, in a pressed shirt, khakis, and sports jacket, could provide only a few of the names I needed. He could not remember his grandmother’s first name, although he did remember her last name — she was “Grandma Wilde.” He was limited by what he remembered and what, as a child, he had actually known. Nonetheless, through this simple task Marian began the difficult job of selecting memories to share. As he began speaking his family I envisioned him transporting the delicate roots of his family’s tree to a time and place that was safe for all of us to witness.

Have you ever really thought about your ancestors beyond their names and dates of events in their lives? The stories of how they lived their lives can be a source of strength as well as inspiration in your own life.
In this new work of narrative nonfiction, Susan M. Rostan invites us to experience her journey as she seeks to uncover the story of her husband s family, including two courageous but silent survivors of WWII s Warsaw Ghetto: her mother-in-law Elzbieta and Elzbieta s brother, Marian Rosenbloom.
With the passing of Elzbieta, an aging Uncle Marian is the only surviving link to his family s history — the stories of tragic loss and heroic survival — that he and his sister had refused to share with anyone throughout their life. Encouraged by the author and driven by an emerging sense of responsibility to his sister s namesake and future generations, Marian begins a difficult journey into the memories of his childhood in the Warsaw Ghetto and subsequent survival.
As his experiences unfold, he haltingly recalls how he managed to escape the Ghetto and survive, thanks to his courageous rescuers. Out of his remembrances, the author nurtures not only the story of her husband s family history, but finds herself immersed in an insistent desire to honor Marian s rescuers. Through her poignant and compelling narrative, she revives Elzbieta s legacy of hope, caring, and laughter for all of us to share.

The Invisible Sorority by Ty Johnson-Anderson @invisible_soror #Abuse #SelfHelp #AmReading

Thursday, May 8, 2014

I stand here for all survivors of sexual assault to make our struggle evident. I am starting a movement—the “I Am Not Invisible” movement. Why? Because it’s needed. Some estimates state that as many as one in four women will be raped or sexually assaulted sometime during their lives. That makes them members of our not-so-exclusive sorority.
We walk among society faceless, mainly because of our own shame. We fake our bright smiles-behind them are our lifeless eyes. We are lost in the crowd. But not for long. It’s our time-our time to step out of the shadows, and finally make the world take notice of this horrid epidemic.
I too am a survivor. Notice I didn’t say “victim.” I was violated by a boyfriend, although initially I didn’t categorize what had happened to me that way. More on that later.
As in all healthy relationships, we had sex-lots of consensual, teenage, lust-filled sex. But we also had a lot of non-consensual sex. While we were living together, I would often wake up to him having sex with me.
In my heart of hearts, I knew this FELT wrong. But I had never been in any other sexual relationship, so I had no reference- no handbook to tell me what was healthy. As with many parents, my mother never shared her sexual exploits with me or talk to me about my role in a sexual relationship, albeit not her fault, but a societal fault. So, being a naïve teenager, I thought maybe this was normal, this is what girlfriends do.
My thoughts as it was happening were; if you had sex with a person once, you had to continue to give it to them, right? I mean, we were in a relationship. So I shut up and I took it. For a year, I took it! In that year, I lost count of how many times I “engaged” in nonconsensual sex-nights with him rolling off me and me rolling over and crying myself to sleep.
Like many survivors, I suffered in silence. I was jaded . . . conflicted. On one hand, I had a boyfriend who took me out, opened doors, showered me with the kind of affection you’d expect from a lover. On the other hand, I had a secret, a deep, dark secret.
It couldn’t be rape. That’s what I kept thinking. In fact, at that time, I wore a smile every day. The only time I cried was when he was on top of me. But . . . it couldn’t be rape. I didn’t say “no.” You have to do that, right? I didn’t fight him off. You should do that too, right? I thought these things were the truth.
As children we are taught by our parents and the media that rape is something that a stranger does to you in a dark alley. I kept a wary eye out for “those” guys, but my antenna was not tuned to the rapist in my bed. My guy, who by day was a dream, became “that guy,” at night. He wasn’t violent, maybe because I didn’t resist his advances or fight back. So again, it couldn’t be rape, could it?
Let me tell you that any sex that is engaged in without consent is rape. Your lack of fighting back is not giving your consent. Your failure to scream, “No, please don’t do this!” is not giving your consent.
I must have a guardian angel because although they weren’t the best people for me to be in a relationship with, they weren’t pure evil either.
I still have trust issues. I still have intimacy issues. I still have communication issues. My journey is still not over. And I’m sure your journey, whether you’re at the beginning or in the midst of it, is ongoing.

9 Things About #Author, Radio Host & South Africa’s Top #Psychic @ShannonWalbran #Memoir

Thursday, March 20, 2014

I wrote my book to work myself out of a job.  My purpose is to teach you how to get your own messages by yourself, so that you don’t need to use an intermediary like me.  I’m like the good doctors these days who advise taking up salsa, becoming a vegan, or running a marathon. Hopefully, I’ll get you enough information and encouragement that you can take up your own bed and walk. That’s the point.
Life is better when it’s guided.  Of course our intuition is feeding us information all the time, and we have hunches, déjà vu, and premonitions. We can use them or ignore them. In my experience, it is thrilling and delightful to interact with the invisible intelligence we’ve been given, like living in a mystery novel with constant twists. I highly recommend it.
People always ask me if I’m psychic for myself, and the answer is, “Yes, but it’s limited.” If I knew everything ahead of time, life would be boring and I wouldn’t learn. I might even become jaded or lose my sense of empathy for others. So luckily, plenty of disasters and surprises still happen to me. But being guided, and tuning into my guidance, has shifted both my experience and my perspective to one of awe, wonder, and gratitude. Even “through a glass darkly,” it’s worthwhile to ask, tune in, and align with the flow of Life.
Radio is my favorite job ever, ever, ever.  The way I run my show is to help as many callers as possible, taking up to 30 callers in an hour on the one community radio show where we don’t have to run advertisements.  I love the spontaneity, the challenge, and of course the impact — our programs can be heard worldwide via the internet, and radio still far outstrips TV here in Africa.
Psychics are people, too.  I’ve gone through phases as a monk, living by myself in a tiny cottage and meditating all day and all night.  Now I’m in a “householder” phase - I’m a mom, doing the school run, playing Legos. One of my aims is normalising my profession, “coming out” in society and being a public, ethical professional who consults with you like an investment counsellor or a lawyer. I’d like to form a Board of Ethics around psychic practitioners and draw up an agreement of best practices we would adhere to.
I am not reading your mind.  This is another one people always want to know, usually when I meet them for the first time.  I work only when I’m working, much like a dentist at a party who doesn’t set down her wine glass to reach her fingers into your mouth and wiggle your faulty molar.  In any case, I wouldn’t be reading your mind even during our professional session: I am translating messages to you from your angels and Spirit Guides, which is a different matter altogether.
My beliefs don’t influence the messages. I am Catholic, I am female, I am American, I am 44, I tend toward progressive politics — and none of that matters when I am working. I am a clean channel, and if your Guides advise you to vote Republican, well, there you go. I’ll say it. At the same time, the Guides constantly ask me to research fields unknown to me: genetics, brain chemistry, architecture, technology — so that I will be able to provide you with up-to-date and useful information.
Being an empath can be a real drag.  For years I was picking up other people’s symptoms and pains, without understanding that they weren’t mine. Now I can feel just a momentary flash of, say, a migraine, and it gives me a clue about how to help the client. I prayed and negotiated with my Guides so I wouldn’t have to carry people’s stuff around any more. But when I stop my self-care program of sleeping, eating, and exercising properly, my “wei qi” (a Chinese concept of a boundary aura) slips, and I catch clients’ illnesses.
Children should be seen, heard, and believed.  When I was a child, I “knew” things I couldn’t have, or shouldn’t have. Certainly I was observant and intelligent, but my conclusions went far beyond that. While being careful never to use children, I think we should encourage their sixth sense as much as we develop their first five. We all have untapped treasures within us.
Guided
In GUIDED! Shannon combines practical how-to’s and case studies with magical worldwide adventures, reminiscent of Elizabeth Gifford’s Eat, Pray, Love and Sonia Choquette’s Trust Your Vibes.
Shannon’s voice in GUIDED! How to Communicate with Your Spirit Guides is as strong and bright as her personality. Her concise and ‘to the point’ method of writing is refreshing.
In the biography section of the book, Shannon is candid about her tumultuous journey, which includes much sadness and hardship. She writes with empathy.
There are two main sections to the book:
Part I – Ways to Hear from your Guides – is practical and describes in detail how to make a connection with your angelic helpers.
Part II is an inspiring biography of Shannon’s life and is as entertaining as it is informative.

Why Do They Leave Christianity & Come to #Islam? by Aicha Zoubair #Religion #NonFiction

Monday, March 17, 2014

Where can we find the truth about God? The truth is found in the last scripture, the glorious Quran and in the Bible itself. Unfortunately, the Roman church wanted dominion over the world, and the meaning of what was originally written in the Bible was changed, which gave birth to a religion where the sovereignty of God has been destroyed and replaced with the worship of a divine Christ. We shall see that the truth was muddled when the true followers of Christ were persecuted for keeping the Law and for rejecting the pagan way of worship. But God did not leave us in the dark; he sent us the most incredible book of guidance on earth: the unchangeable Quran.
Christianity is a religion that has dominated the West for centuries; but, today, the religion that makes the headlines, unfortunately, for the wrong reasons, is Islam. Despite the negative image, generated mainly by isolated acts of terrorism and suicide bombings, Islam is the fastest growing religion in this part of the world. Satan cannot change the last revelation sent down to mankind, the Quran, but he can certainly manipulate the way people interpret it, if they don’t have the correct knowledge and understanding of the scripture. Suicide, suicide bombings, ransom killings for example, are categorically forbidden in Islam. The unfortunate Muslims who engage themselves in such acts have indeed tarnished the best way of life that the Almighty Lord chose for those who want to enter heaven.
WHY DO THEY LEAVE CHRISTIANITY
If you have ever wondered how Islam and Christianity are similar and different, be ready to learn some of the most interesting facts in this well written and well researched book.
You think you are saved in Christ, think again! This book overthrows the lies that has been spread in the name of Jesus and will make you reflect upon your Christian beliefs. Salvation cannot be found in the blooded cross but is found in the last scripture: the Quran.
You will understand why Islam in its many pure forms attracts so many in the Western part of the world. With thousands upon thousands leaving Christianity behind, you might wonder what Islam has to offer what Christianity does not… Did Jesus really die while being crucified, as he was a submitter to God's will? With scriptural evidences, you will learn that the name of God was removed from the Bible. Not only does the author's new book answer these questions, it is also objective research into the Muslim and Christian scriptures, to understand why Jesus was sent for and what his message was… If you are ready to learn why Islam is the religion of truth that God wants all of us to follow, or if you are currently interested in learning how Islam is different from what you learn and see on television, the author's new book is a must to read. You will not be disappointed, as you will learn a lot, and maybe even see an opportunity to change your spiritual life for the better.

How do you write – lap top, pen, paper, in bed, at a desk?
I journal and write poetry with pen and paper but I type my manuscripts on a laptop on my couch in my pajamas. A part of me would love to purchase an old fashioned type writer and write a best selling novel, I love the sound of a type writer.
Where do you get support from? Do you have friends in the industry?
I joined a local Writers group in my city. We meet a few times a month to share about our upcoming projects and give feedback.
How much sleep do you need to be your best?
8-10 hours. I know that’s a luxury, but that’s when I feel the best and most energized. I start to wind down between 9 and 10pm and love to be out of bed by 8am.
Is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge and thank for their support?
My family, church and friends for constantly encouraging me and inspiring me to never give up.
Every writer has their own idea of what a successful career in writing is, what does success in writing look like to you?
Success in writing for me would be to write a NY Times best seller within the next one or two years.
It is vital to get exposure and target the right readers for your writing, tell us about your marketing campaign?
For this particular book, I am targeting Christian women and asking them to join in a 30 day prayer challenge for the men in their lives. It’s more important for me with this book to focus on getting women to join the challenge and not so much book sales. Here is the link to join the challenge http://trinitybodymindspirit.us7.list-manage1.com/subscribe?u=bf1199c5fa26493d107cc83f2&id=9b1c8ec02c
Tell us about your new book? What’s it about and why did you write it?
Praying for Men of P.O.W.E.R. is a 30 day prayer guide. The prayers are directly crafted from scripture and focus on purity, obedience, wisdom, exhortation and responsibility. The book also includes journal pages after each prayer. I wrote this prayer guide because I was struggling with praying for the men in my life and wanted to give up. I decided that instead of giving up, I would find a different way to pray. I wrote this prayer guide for women who are at a point in their prayer lives that they want to give up as well.
Sometimes we don’t know what to pray or how to pray it. Pre-written prayers are just as powerful as ones that we come up with on our own. This book includes powerful written prayers but also allows you to write in your own prayers.
If you could have a dinner party and invite anyone dead or alive, who would you ask?
I would want to have a huge family reunion with all my ancestors from every tribe and nation. It would be really interesting to meet the people and cultures that I come from.
When you are not writing, how do you like to relax?
Reading, sleeping, eating or exercising helps me to relax.
Sometimes it’s so hard to keep at it - What keeps you going?
Knowing that I have a message that is worth hearing, that could change people’s lives and mindsets. Whether that be an obvious message in non-fiction book or a message that portrays itself differently through characters in a fiction work.
Have you met any people in the industry who have really helped you?
Timothy Bond, creator of Truevinepublishing.org, Jason Lutz (jasonlutz.com) and Sarah Catlett (decaldarling.com) have been instrumental in helping me to develop my platform and website. I would be completely lost without them!
You didn't learn these prayers in Sunday school. Put your armor on, and get ready to see God move!
Do you ever get sick of praying? It's okay to admit. We all do. It is emotionally draining to beg God without ceasing. Christians often forget that under Christ's authority, we have the power to command God's promises to be released from heaven to earth and into our lives.
In Praying for Men of P.O.W.E.R., author Nina Elaine Borum challenges readers to stand confidently and command the promises of God for the men in your life. As someone who has struggled with prayer, Nina believes that God does not intend for his children to feel helpless in praying. His Word has instructed us in how to bring the kingdom of heaven to a world where Satan runs freely. We are all in the midst of a vicious spiritual battle, and Nina hopes this book will help you to fight on behalf of Christian men.
