What writing are you most proud of? Besides MALLED, I’m most proud of my first novel, WINDFORK SECRETS, which I originally self-published, but is now coming out in a new edition from a legitimate publisher.  I love the story, and literally hundreds of students I’ve read it to or who have read it, as well as many parents, love it too.  Here’s the Amazon link for the new version.

What are you most proud of in your personal life?  What I’m most proud of is that, whether in my life as a teacher and writer or in my personal life, I seem to have been able to, in the vast majority of cases, make a very good and lasting difference in the lives of those I’ve touched in some way.  My sort of personal mantra is “Making a good difference…” and I feel I’ve lived up to that very well.

What books did you love growing up? Growing up, I mostly enjoyed non-fiction books about military history.  Gradually, I became familiar with the Classics Illustrated graphic novels, which turned me on to classic fiction.  I later enjoyed the Chronicles of Narnia series and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Who is your favorite author? I have many favorites, mostly in the area of middle-grade/YA literature.  My favorite author of adult fiction is probably Dan Brown.

What book genre of books do you adore?  I enjoy middle-grade and young adult books a lot, but also some adult books as well.  Regardless, it helps if there’s elements of fantasy, science fiction, or action and adventure, any and all mixed with a little romance, that keeps me turning the pages.

“Imagine the unimaginable.”

That was the mantra of young prodigy Hector Chevas’s mentor in architectural design, Gellini. But even Gellini couldn’t imagine the horrors that his prize student and adopted son would fill Suburbia’s new Heartland Mall with to wreak revenge on those who killed Gellini and murdered Hector’s only friends. “Black Friday” was never blacker.

But Hector couldn’t imagine that, in the middle of his deathly rampage, an “angel” from his past would re-appear into his life; wild-child Janey, whose life he’d saved years before, and who’d never forgotten her promise to “always love him…for reals.” But was that love strong enough now to learn the unimaginable truth; to call Hector’s “dead” soul back to life and resurrect him from his mad plunge into oblivion?

MALLED is a story filled with tragedy, terror, raw emotion, unspeakable horrors, and, above all, the awesome power of ferocious, undying love. Go for it. Get into it. Dare to “imagine the unimaginable.”
